It's About Love

God calls us genuine and sincere love.
If we are critical rather than compassionate, we will also receive criticism. However, if we treat others generously, graciously, and compassionately, these qualities will return to us abundantly.
Matthew 7:1-2 reminds us of Jesus’ teaching to examine our motives and conduct instead of judging and criticizing others. Before we criticize anyone, we must ask ourselves if we deserve the same critique. Often, the traits that disturb us in others are reflections of habits we dislike in ourselves. Our unresolved flaws and negative behavior patterns are the things we wish to see change in those around us.
Love is the essence of life—the core of who we are meant to be. The thread binds humanity together and gives meaning to our existence. At its heart, love reflects the nature of God, who created us to live in harmony with Him and one another. It transcends fleeting emotions, shaping how we see ourselves and interact with the world. When we embrace love, we align with the divine purpose of spreading kindness, compassion, and unity.
Love inspires us to rise above selfishness, nurture, forgive, and contribute to the well-being of those around us. In loving deeply, we fulfill our highest calling and discover the true beauty of life.
Many of us have mastered the art of appearing courteous, speaking kindly, and avoiding outward harm. We might even feign compassion or express indignation at injustice when it suits us.
But God calls us to something more profound: genuine and sincere love. Real love requires intentionality and effort. It’s not about embarrassing or putting others down but about lifting them and helping them grow. Jesus’ command to “judge not” does not dismiss critical thinking but encourages us to approach life with discernment and positivity rather than negativity.
Talk is cheap when not backed by meaningful action. We can claim to love God or others, but without practical steps to demonstrate that love, our words are hollow and insignificant. Love is not merely a feeling but a choice and action. God’s love exemplifies this perfectly. He chose to love us, even at the cost of His only Son.
God’s love is neither selfish nor self-serving. Instead, it reflects His holiness, justice, and perfection.
The world often distorts love into something selfish, defining it as whatever makes us feel good, even at the expense of moral principles or the rights of others. But true love, as determined by God, is the opposite. It is selfless, sacrificial, and transformative. Genuine love for others manifests in tangible actions. It compels us to extend hospitality, show sympathy, remain faithful, and find contentment.
How well do your actions align with your declarations of love? Let’s ensure our love is deep enough to inspire meaningful change in our lives and those around us. After all, it’s all about love.
Respectfully,
