It's About Love

God calls us to genuine and sincere love.
If we are critical rather than compassionate, we will also receive criticism. However, if we treat others generously, graciously, and compassionately, these qualities will return to us in full measure.
Matthew 7:1-2 Jesus teaches us to examine our motives and conduct instead of judging and criticizing others. Therefore, before criticizing others, let us see if we deserve the same criticism. Most likely, the traits that disturb us in others are often the habits we dislike in ourselves. Our unbroken bad habits and behavior patterns are the very ones we most want to change in others.
Most of us have learned to be courteous to others, speak kindly, avoid hurting people’s feelings, and appear interested in them. We may even be skilled at pretending to feel moved with compassion when we hear of others’ needs or to become indignant when we learn of injustice.
But God calls us to genuine and sincere love. Real love requires concentration and effort. It means helping others become better people, not embarrassing them, or putting them down; instead, we are to help each other up.
“Judge not” is not a blanket statement against all critical thinking but a call to be discerning rather than negative. Talk is cheap, but our words lack meaning if our actions do not back them up. We can say we love God or others, but if we are not taking practical steps to demonstrate that love, our words are empty and meaningless. Everyone believes love is essential, but we usually consider it a feeling. In reality, love is a choice and an action. God’s love always involves a choice and an action, and our love should be as His.
God is the source of love; He loved us enough to sacrifice His only son for us.
The world thinks love makes you feel good, and it is willing to sacrifice moral principles and others’ rights to obtain such “love.” However, that is not real love; it is love’s exact opposite—selfishness. Our definition of love must come from God, who is holy, just, and perfect.
Genuine love for others produces tangible action, so let us ensure our love runs deep enough to affect our hospitality, sympathy, fidelity, and contentment.
I leave you with this question- How well do your actions back up what you say?
Respectfully
